GENERAL FAQs

What is the difference between TYLENOL* and MOTRIN* IB?
The active ingredient in TYLENOL* is acetaminophen (also called APAP). APAP is a pain reliever and fever reducer, but it does not have anti-inflammatory properties. Acetaminophen is thought to act on the brain to reduce your perception of pain. It is gentle on your stomach and unlikely to cause stomach upset.

In comparison, MOTRIN* IB products contain ibuprofen, which is part of a class of drugs known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID). Ibuprofen will reduce your perception of pain and will also act on certain chemicals at the site where pain starts to block the pain impulse. Ibuprofen has been known to cause stomach upset.

As with any drug, you should speak with your doctor about which is the right choice for you.
