Cold & FluTreatmentsThere is no effective cure for the common cold, but most children handle a cold without any serious problems. If your child is 6 months old or younger, consult your doctor at the first sign of illness. Ibuprofen-based medicines such as Children's MOTRIN*, Junior Strength MOTRIN* or acetaminophen-based medicines such as Children's TYLENOL* Cold will relieve your child's cold symptoms. Do not give ASA-containing medicines (e.g., ASPIRIN®) to children under 15 due to the risk of a disorder called Reye's Syndrome. To soothe the sore throat in older children, try Junior Strength MOTRIN* or gargling with warm salt water. See also Recommended Tips. |
