Menstrual SymptomsSymptomsThe types and severity of menstrual symptoms are different for each woman and will often vary from cycle to cycle. Some of the more common symptoms that can occur during the menstrual cycle include the following: - Around ovulation there may be acne, pain in the lower abdomen or back, dizziness, or a headache.
- PMS involves one or more of these symptoms during the week before a period: breast tenderness, bloating, changes in appetite, acne, clumsiness, nausea, headache, change in sex drive, decreased energy levels, insomnia, fatigue, and mood changes (e.g., irritability, depression, anxiety).
- During a period, there may be pain in the abdomen or back, as well as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
